Susan Kenney received her Bachelor of Science in French at Radford University in 2008. During her undergraduate studies, Susan spent a semester abroad in Angers, France, and participated in volunteer service projects in Brussels, Belgium. Upon receiving her degree, Susan spent a year in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, France, as an English teaching assistant. She went on to complete a Master of Arts in Foreign Languages, Cultures, and Literatures at Virginia Polytechnic Institute while also teaching Elementary French to undergraduate students. Prior to pursuing a PhD in French at Rutgers University in 2011, Susan had the opportunity to spend a summer teaching ESOL to Bhutanese and Haitian refugees in Virginia. Susan’s research interests lie in religious studies, women’s and gender studies, and critical theory. Her current dissertation research concerns the spiritual poetry of Gabrielle de Coignard, a sixteenth-century poet from Toulouse, France. Susan is available for tutoring and translation assignments.
