This course is not open to students having had 2 or more years of High School French
Course Description: This course is designed to help students, who have little or no previous French training, learn how to read French quickly and efficiently. In addition to the textbook, a variety of resources are used to practice reading French, including newspaper articles, classic French texts, and film (we learn through reading French sub-titles!). This course is taught as a reading/translation workshop, during which the class works together to develop their reading skills.

With French for Reading Knowledge II (01:420:106) this course also fulfills the Global Language Proficiency Requirement for the Honors College
Exams, Assignments, and Grading Policy:
Regular quizzes and mini-translations have been developed with the goal of reinforcing the strategies and techniques learned during the course. In addition, there is a midterm and a final exam, consisting of a translation exercise.
